Drive along the Mediterranean coast to the ruins of the ancient Roman capital - Caesarea, built by Herod the Great in 22 B.C. Visit the Roman Theater, the Aqueduct and Herodian Port. Continue up to Mt. Carmel, see the magnificent panoramic view. Visit Muchraka, the location of Elijah's altar during his confrontation with the false prophets of Baal. Continue through the Valley of Armageddon to the excavation site at Tel Megiddo. Travel up the mountains of the lower Galilee to Sepphoris, the cosmopolitan Roman capital of Galilee until Herod Antipas built Tiberias. It is heralded as the traditional birthplace of Mary. We reach Tiberias for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

Today we explore Hazor, one of the oldest archaeological sites in Israel. The 3000 year old city was the inspiration for The Source, James Michener's epic history of the region. Here, Joshua fought against Jabin. Hazor was later fortified by Solomon. At nearby Tel Dan, see the mud brick arch constructed in pre-Israelite (Canaanites) times and where The House of David fragment, from the First Temple Period, was discovered. We visit Caesarea Philippi now called Banias – one of the main sources of the Jordan River, and where Jesus traveled with his disciples. Here Peter made his great confession to Jesus, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Dinner and overnight in Tiberias. (B,D)

Take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee to Ginnosar where we visit the fishermen's boat found here and dated to Jesus' time, continue to the Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount. On to Tabgha, site of the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes and to Capernaum, the city of Jesus and Peter. Explore the town of Chorazin rebuked by Jesus for its lack of faith. We drive along the Sea of Galilee and arrive at Yardenit, the Baptismal Center on the Jordan River. Return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

We leave the Galilee and drive to the old Roman city of Beit Shean to visit the impressive ruins. Beit Shean was the capital of the Decapolis cities, through which word of Jesus' miracles and teachings spread. It has also been a scene of tragedy – more than a millennium earlier, the Philistines hung the body of Saul from its ramparts. From here we venture south towards the Holy city of Jerusalem stopping fi rst in Bethlehem to view the Shepherds' Fields and the Fields of Boaz and Ruth. Visit the Church of the Nativity. Then Travel to the Herodian, the palace-fortress built by King Herod and where his tomb was recently discovered. Dinner & overnight in Jerusalem. (B,D)

We start the day with a visit to the Garden Tomb, followed by an orientation beside Calvary. Travel to the Old City, through St. Stephen's Gate to the Pool of Bethesda, the Chapel of the Flagellation, and the Ecce Homo Arch. View the Gabbatha pavement then proceed to the Temple area and Mt. Continue through the Bazaar to the last stations of the Via Dolorosa and visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. (B,D)

Leave Jerusalem, and arrive at the shores of the Dead Sea - the lowest point on earth. We drive along the Dead Sea to Masada, the fortress where the Jewish Zealots held off the armies of the Roman Empire before choosing suicide over surrender. Continue to Ein Gedi, where King David found shelter from the wrath of King Saul. After lunch, we enjoy a short “float” in the Dead Sea. Continue to Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947 in a cave and then return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

Today we will visit the City of David, the oldest section of the city of Jerusalem. We will also see the Pool of Siloam where the blind man washed his eyes and was able to see. We will trace thousands of years of history through the incredible labyrinth of tunnels, arches and passageways in the Rabbis' Tunnels (Western Wall Tunnels). A visit to the Wohl Archaeological Museum gives you a unique sense of what may remain hidden under your feet as you walk through the Old City. Located underground, it preserves the remains of six houses from the Herodian period that were excavated in 1967. We will also visit the Cardo and the “Wide” wall built by King Hezekiah. (B,D)

Visit the Garden of Gethsemane, and Church of All Nations. See the Kidron Valley and Tomb of Absalom, Zechariah and James. We continue to Mount Zion the Room of the Last Supper. We drive past the Knesset and the Israel Museum. and visit the recently constructed Model of Ancient Jerusalem. Farewell Dinner and overnight at the hotel. (B,D)

Our journey ends with good memories as we depart Tel Aviv for our early morning flight home. Arrival in the Atlanta area the same day.

Morning transfer to the Allenby Bridge to cross into Jordan and drive to the city of Jerash, known as the Pompeii of the East and the city of a thousand pillars. As we leave Jerash we drive to the beautiful city of Amman past the King Hussein's Sport City. We check into our hotel and have time to walk around and shop before dinner. (B,D)

After breakfast we depart for Bethany beyond the Jordan. The area at Tell-Al-Kharrar on the River Jordan has been identified as the biblical site where John was living in a Byzantine Monastery with a large baptismal pool, and findings from the first century AD confirm that this site was inhabited during the lives of Jesus and John the Baptist. We then drive south to the long-lost city of Petra. This city with its rose-colored temples and Amphitheatre was carved out of multihued rocks. and is a UNESCO world heritage site which is more than 2,000 years old. Petra dominated the trade routes and was completely lost to the world for 300 years. In 1812 it was “rediscovered”. The Apostle Paul studied here for 3 years and Herod came from this city. After exploring this exciting sight, we return to Amman for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Today we bid farewell to Jordan and head for the Holy Land first stopping at Madaba where we will see some of the finest Byzantine mosaics.
