We have been offering and operating tours to the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany since 1970. Once again, we are pleased to offer 6 distinct itineraries from which to choose, all including tickets to the play.
Tour Discounts:
Discounts are available for early booking. The discounts will be taken at the time of final payment
- $100.00 discount if we receive deposit of $995.00 no later than one year prior to departure date
- $75.00 discount if we receive deposit $500.00 no later than one year prior to departure date
- $50.00 discount if we receive deposit $995.00 no later than 9 months prior to departure date
The history:
In the year 1633, when the little Bavarian town of Oberammergau was in the grip of the black plague, the inhabitants took an oath that if they were spared they would stage a performance of the re-enactment of the Passion of Jesus every 10 years. For the first time in 1634 the inhabitants of Oberammergau fulfilled their oath and in 2010 the village will be dominated by its Passion Play once again. For hundreds of years, in spite of dangers and threats, Oberammergau truly kept the solemn promise, a sign of faith, loyalty and tradition. With inner conviction the villagers made of amateur actors are about to present again the life and sufferings of Our Lord.
The play today
The play depicts the story of Christ's Passion beginning with entry into Jerusalem and ending with the resurrection and transfiguration. In 2010, the play will begin at 2:30p in the afternoon until 5:00p when there will be a dinner intermission. The play will resume at 8:00p until 10:30p.
The tickets and packages
The tickets for 2010 will be available for sale in 2008. Our packages are in the planning stage. Therefore we suggest that you register with us now so that we may send you the information as soon as it is ready. Simply email us.
Deposits
- The initial $500.00 is paid at the time of booking. This represents a non-refundable ticket fee (required by the Oberammergau Foundation to secure your place in our ticket block.)
- The remaining $495.00 is due by November 1, 2009.
